Abstract:
Considerable advances have been made in the application of nanotechnology in life sciences
nanobiotechnology—particularly in refining molecular diagnostics and drug delivery. These advances in
nanobiotechnology are being extended to the clinical setting, which open up the possibility of
personalized nanomedicine. In this article, Professor Jain of Jain PharmaBiotech and Vivien Jain describe the impact of nanotechnology on healthcare with emphasis on applications in cell therapy and tissue engineering. Current techniques and future developments are used as a basis for estimating the potential markets for these technologies. This article serves as a useful roadmap of the issues that will be faced when applying nanobiotechnology to cell therapy and tissue engineering, including technological, regulatory, and legal issues.
