Abstract:
With smaller opportunities and funds than other European countries, Romania possesses a cadre of
greatly qualified and experienced individuals interested in nanotechnology. The aim of this article is to
emphasize the main activities and results of the Romanian groups working in this novel domain of nanotechnology. Most of these groups deal with nanomaterials technology and only a few of them have activities in nanostructure science and engineering, new concepts, and device modeling and
technology. The considerable levels of collaboration and construction of state of the art facilities clearly
demonstrate that nanotechnology will succeed as a science and soon as an industry in
Romania.
