Nanotechnology and its Impact on Clinical Medicine Volume 1, Issue 2
Authors: Michael E. Gertner, University of California, San Francisco
Abstract:
Perhaps the greatest impact of nanotechnology will take place in the context of medicine. Indeed, nanotechnology has already made its way into several medical products. In this article, Dr. Michael Gertner explores the impact of nanotechnology on clinical medicine. He defines nanotechnology, offers a broad strategy for conceptualizing nanotechnology in medicine, and then engages in a detailed discussion of: (1) magnetoparticulate technology; (2) stents; (3) drug delivery; and (4) surgical technology.
