Nanotechnology and Advanced Imaging Technology
Volume 7, Issue 1

Authors:
Shigeru Ogino

Abstract:
Research and development involving nanotechnology for advanced imaging applications has become increasingly active in recent years. Researchers are incorporating advanced nanostructures, which are smaller than light wavelength, into optical devices in order to create exotic phenomena never before possible. Since many of the properties of these new devices have never been observed in nature they are opening up new previously unimagined research paths. This article discusses such new material and device advances, especially as they relate to imaging optics and advanced technologies like color filters, negative index imaging lenses, and nano lenses for sub-wavelength imaging over the diffraction limit and flexible nano camera for 3-D images.
