A Cursory Look at Commercializing Nanotechnology in Japan Volume 1, Issue 2

Abstract:
In the race to miniaturization, the United States and Japan are likely to be the most dominant global players. In this article, Louis Ross explains the industrial structure facilitating commercialization of nanotechnology in Japan. Specifically, he discusses federal funding, investments being made by large corporations, and venture capital backed start-ups spinning out of Japanese universities. In the last part of the article, he identifies initial commercial successes in Japan’s nanotechnology efforts.
