Ten Patents That Could Impact The Development of Nanotechnology
Volume 1, Issue 2

Abstract:
This list identifies and evaluates ten patents that are most likely to impact the development of nanotechnology.  (The patents are listed in no particular order.)  These are patents that are likely to be infringed by a large number of different materials, devices, and systems.  In developing this article, we carefully sifted through several thousand patents.  While there are certainly a large number of other nanotech patents that will occupy lawyers, investors, and executives in coming years, these ten are likely to play an important role in commercialization of nanotechnology.  It should be noted that a detailed analysis of the scope of the claims would include a thorough investigation of the prosecution history.  Here we just reproduce the literal wording of the claims of the ten patents and describe the relevant technologies.  This list should not be considered legal advice.
