Abstract:
Switzerland ranks among the leaders of innovation activity and has recognized the importance and economic potential of nanotechnology early on. The Swiss university ETH Zurich has begun a nanotechnology project with the objective of improving economic data on the nanotechnology field in Switzerland and developing a systematic approach to technology exploration. At the same time, it aims to provide an overview of how nanotechnology is used in Swiss companies. The study revealed an initial picture of nanotechnology developments in Switzerland. Nanotechnology activities in Switzerland have extended from manipulation techniques to other product segments. New products and improving existing products are the most common motifs of companies in Switzerland for pursuing nanotechnology.
